Sabancı University Vice President Hasan Mandal, International Relations Office Associate Ebru Koç and Sabancı University representatives in Azerbaijan visited Azerbaijan’s Minister of Education Mikayıl Cabbarov on Friday, December 20, 2013. Also joining the meeting were Azerbaijan Ministry of Education International Cooperation Division Director Mukhtar Mammadov and Ministry official Nezrin Bağırova.
The parties discussed cooperation opportunities between the Azerbaijan Ministry of Education and Sabancı University. Vice President Hasan Mandal said that Sabancı University would like to be included in the Republic of Azerbaijan State Scholarships List, and explained the unique education and learning processes of the university, diploma programs, faculty, research facilities including the nanotechnology laboratory, and institutional internalization policies, emphasizing that the university was in every way fit to go on the list.
Vice President Hasan Mandal also said that Sabancı University was Turkey’s leading third-generation (innovative and entrepreneurial) university, an institutional model that has been gaining acceptance since 2011.
Azerbaijan Minister of Education Mikayıl Cabbarov said that they would explore opportunities for cooperation in areas where Sabancı University excels.
